Who We Are

Who We Are

Our History

What began in 2008 as a small academic-year after-school program with 10 elementary school students from low-income families in New Haven and started by Yale University men’s and women’s varsity tennis coaches and players, has since grown exponentially.

Since its inception and to this day, New HYTEs enjoys a deep relationship with the Yale community from its students and faculty volunteers, to being the beneficiaries of Yale’s state of the art facilities, to the generous support from Yale’s Office on New Haven Affairs.

Today New HYTEs is serving over 100 economically disadvantaged students annually across Greater New Haven communities. We have ambitious growth plans as we look to build a permanent Student Enrichment Center featuring classroom, offices, and a tennis & fitness center for the next generation of students.

As a National Junior Tennis & Learning chapter, New HYTEs also benefits greatly from the sustained financial and resource support of the USTA Foundation which has been a critical catalyst in the growth of our organization since our inception.
